Primary meningeal melanocytoma.
Meningeal melanocytoma is an uncommon benign pigmented primary lesion that has to be distinguished as a pathological entity separate from other benign melanin containing tumours as well as its overtly malignant counterpart, melanoma. In the present study, a 58 year old lady presented with bilateral sensory and motor symptoms in the lower limbs. The MRI scan showed a dumb-bell shaped lesion in t...

Primary pigmented tumors of the cerebrospinal meninges are rare and uncommon group of melanin-containing neoplasms. They include pigmented meningioma, malignant melanoma, meningeal melanocytoma, melanotic schwannoma and melanoblastosis. These tumors are different in biological behavior, treatment and prognosis. Valenti was the first to describe pigmented cells normally found in the leptomeninge...
متن کاملCervical Spinal Meningeal Melanocytoma Presenting as Intracranial Superficial Siderosis
Meningeal melanocytoma is a rare pigmented tumor of the leptomeningeal melanocytes. This rare entity results in diagnostic difficulty in imaging unless clinical and histopathology correlation is performed. In this case report, we describe a case of meningeal melanocytoma of the cervical region presenting with superficial siderosis. Extensive neuroradiological examination is necessary to locate ...

A case of spinal meningeal melanocytoma is reported along with clinicopathologic, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural studies. This patient presented clinically with paraparesis, tingling sensation and numbness of both lower extremities of 4 months duration. No mucocutaneous pigmented nevi were found. On operation, scattered coal-black pigmented lesions were found in the meninges between T3...
متن کاملMR of spinal meningeal melanocytoma.
We report an unusual case of meningeal melanocytoma, a rare pigmented lesion of the leptomeninges, that occurred within the leptomeninges of the thoracic spinal canal. The lesion showed increased signal intensity on T1-weighted MR images relative to gray matter, was isointense with gray matter on T2-weighted images, and enhanced mildly but homogeneously after administration of contrast material.
